Built for records. Not volume.

Caber Studios is a boutique independent label and music production company. We cut records where the music lives — in the country's best tracking rooms, in a client's home studio, in a chapel, on a stage. Our engineer travels. Our gear travels. The record gets made where the record is right.

Then we handle the label work that scales a release past a SoundCloud upload. No retail calendar. No influencer budget. No volume roster. A short list of artists, a long horizon, and masters that stay with the people who made them.

Producer, session musician, and songwriter. Applied Audio Recording Diploma, TARA — console-trained, location-capable. Performing live since sixteen — tracked the original Million Degrees single at Raven Street Studios the same year.

Commercial radio on Hot 89.9. Live session on CBC Radio One. 2024 Capital Music Awards Newcomer of the Year nominee. Feature at LIVE on Elgin; headlining at Rainbow Bistro.

Up-and-coming Ottawa DJ and producer building a club-forward body of work. House DJ across multiple venues in the city. Caught the label's ear at the October 2025 Rainbow Bistro showcase, co-presented with Raven Street Studios.

Debut releases through 2026 — the first step toward a profile on the national funding registries, and a catalogue that scales on its own terms.

James is TARA-trained on a professional console — and just as capably behind a mic kit wherever the music actually lives. We go where the record needs to be made. The gear comes with us.

Studios are sometimes the answer. They aren't the only one.

Ottawa, ON · Est. 1992

Ottawa’s largest and oldest recording complex — founded in 1992 by Breen Murray, now owned and run by his daughter Shannon Murray Mead, and home of The Audio Recording Academy (TARA). James cut his first single here at sixteen and trained on the Audient ASP 8024 — it’s where his Ottawa sessions track.

Clients include Avril Lavigne, Snoop Dogg, Queens of the Stone Age.

Banquet Sound

Toronto, ON

Toronto production house led by Nixon Boyd — Juno-nominated producer and former lead guitarist of Hollerado, with credits including Dizzy, Anyway Gang, and “A Little Bit Alexis” from Schitt’s Creek. Nixon produced James’s singles Blink, Laugh Again, Complicated, and No Place to Go at Banquet Sound and his Simcoe Mechanical studio. Our Toronto production partner and the gateway to the broader Canadian indie network.
